IQRAA KEHOLE SURGERY UNIT

Overview / Highlights / Our consultants

IQRAA Since the inception of the department at the IQRAA Hospital, it has seen steady growth and has conducted numerous laparoscopic procedures over the past few years with a lot of success.

Famously called as Key-Hole surgery, is done through small holes in your body. A telescope is inserted through the body which acts as the eye of the surgeon. He operates looking at the image in the monitor using thin long instruments through other small holes placed in the body

It is the absence of long incisions on the body that makes the surgery almost painless and results in no scarring while achieving the same results as open surgery. The advantage if being able to reduce the hospital stay drastically combined with early return to work makes it an extremely patient friendly and cost effective technique, thus making it the more popular choice among patients.

ADVANTAGES OF MINIMAL ACCESS SURGERY

• Offers better visualization than open surgery, particularly better visualization of the hiatus and deep structures in the pelvis.
• Offers dramatic advantages in terms of the quality of life after the operation.
• Postoperative pain is reduced, which decreases postoperative narcotic use and its complications. This also aids in lower pulmonary complications.
• Smaller wounds are associated with fewer wound complications, less scarring, and better cosmesis.
• Reduces postoperative adhesions.
• Patients stay in the hospital for a shorter period and recover faster.
